This is a concept design for an AI application that makes it easier for people to buy second-hand clothes in their preferred style. The primary target audience is individuals who wish to make sustainable choices but find it challenging. By simply taking a photo of an item they like in large, unsustainable clothing stores, the AI analyses its features and suggests similar options available in second-hand or vintage shops.
The project began with the question, ‘Why do people consume fast fashion so excessively?’ I identified this as an issue deeply tied to human desire. This video was created as part of a manifesto and movement aimed at encouraging people to reflect on their true desires. By fostering this introspection, the project seeks to contribute to reducing the consumption of fast fashion.
It all began with a personal inconvenience: I kept forgetting to take my house key with me whenever I went out. In South Korea, physical keys are no longer commonly used, so after moving to the Netherlands, I struggled to adapt to using them again. One day, I forgot my key yet again and ended up paying €200 to have my door unlocked. This experience inspired the idea for this bag—it features small LED lights that illuminate when the key is inside, ensuring I never forget it again.
